The shooting sports are among the most popular activities that
Scouts engage in. As with all Scout activities a primary concern is
safety. The BSA Health and Safety Guidelines are always followed in all
official shooting sports events. Firearms activities are always
supervised by one or more NRA Certified Instructors.
With certain restrictions: Cub Scouts can participate in airgun
and archery activities; Boy Scouts can participate in airgun, archery,
blackpowder rifle, modern rifle, blackpowder shotgun, and modern shotgun
activities; Venturers can participate in airgun, archery, blackpowder
rifle, modern rifle, blackpowder shotgun, modern shotgun, and pistol
activities.
The Boy Scouts of America has a longstanding policy of teaching
its youth and adult members the safe and responsible use of firearms and
airguns. The Mercer Area District is fortunate to have the Citizens'
Rifle and Revolver Club (CRRC) within its boundaries to host an
extensive series of highly supervised youth events including several
specifically for the Boy Scout Merit Badge Program. Links to some
